core samples
I live a stones throw away from Linda Mar Beach in Pacifica–the place where back in 1769 Gaspar de Portola and his men disembarked and began the invasion of the San Francisco Bay Area and the displacement of the Ohlone people. Core Samples is an exploration of space, physical as well as historic and imagined. The thin, long images divided into organic strata–reminiscent of geological layers–serve as a reminder of the many events and individuals who have existed in the spaces we now call home. Core Samples are a series of mixed media images– drawing, painting, collage, collograph, frottage, image transfer and screen printing.
